Lorelie Katigbak, a physical therapist at Life Care Center of Blount County in Louisville, Tennessee, is one of a few therapists Life Care brought to the United States from the Philippines in 2012 and hired full time in 2014.
When Katigbak lost her sister in autumn 2017, associates rallied to help her attend the funeral.
“To show their fellow teammate how much they care and support her, the staff wanted to do something special,” said Drew Kimsey, director of rehab. “Our entire rehab staff pulled together and raised enough money to buy a roundtrip ticket from Knoxville, Tennessee, to the Philippines for her.”
The therapists accomplished this in just two days, and soon Katigbak was on a plane headed to be with her family. She stayed for five days and got to spend some time with them before she returned to the States.
“The support from my work family when I heard of my sister’s passing was tremendous,” said Katigbak. “I cannot imagine working with a better group of people.”
